Kishore Kumar needs no introduction. He is one of the popular singers in Bollywood and has also acted in couple of movies. You can also say that Kishore Kumar is the Amitabh Bachchan of the music industry. Kishore Kumar became the voice of several superstars from Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Shammi Kapoor, Dharmendra and many more But there came a time when Kishore Kumar stopped singing for Amitabh Bachchan. This cycle continues not for a month or two, but for many years.
In 1980, Kishore had asked Amitabh Bachchan for a guest role in one of his films 'Mamata Ki Chhaon'. But due to busy schedule, Amitabh Bachchan refused to do it. Due to this the veteran singer got angry with Amitabh Bachchan and stopped singing for him. This was the time when every singer wanted to be the voice of Amitabh Bachchan but Kishore Kumar was rejected for singing for Amitabh Bachchan.
After Amitabh Bachchan realize this, one day Amitabh Bachchan went to meet Kishore Da on the occasion of his son's birthday. After this meeting all the grudges went away and Kishore da agreed to sing for Amitabh Bachchan and the pair made a splash once again.
Kishore Kumar has sang 245 songs picturized on Rajesh Khanna across 92 films, which is an unbeaten record for singer-actor combination. Kishore sang 245 songs for Rajesh Khanna, 202 for Jeetendra, 119 for Dev Anand and 131 for Amitabh. He has worked in Munimji (1955), Funtoosh (1956), Nau do gyarah (1957), and Jewel Thief (1967). He also directed several productions, including Door gagan ki chhaon mein (1964) and Door ka rahi (1971). He had also recorded various blockbuster "Kaho Kahan Chale" for the film Bulundi, "Pyar Ka Dard Hai" from Dard and "Tum Jo Chale Gaye" from Aas Paas, a few days before his heart attack in 1981.
