New Delhi: Mulayam Singh Yadav was once the most prominent leader in Uttar Pradesh. Mulayam Singh, who was born on this day in 1939 in Saifai (Saifai), a small village in Etawah district, left an ordinary family and ruled the siayat of the whole state of Uttar Pradesh. Mulayam's political career in Uttar Pradesh, known as Netaji, is remembered for more scandals than accomplishments. He served as Uttar Pradesh's chief minister three times and as the country's defence minister once, but his controversial words and activities surrounded him each time. Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party, came under fire after saying during a gathering in Moradabad that it was wrong to sentence him to death in rape cases. Boys are boys, and they make errors. In rape instances, Mulayam has stated that no one should be hanged. Boys make mistakes and should not be sentenced to death as a result of them. According to him, even boys are sometimes suspected of being involved in crimes. Boys make blunders. Such laws must be amended.
