Nusrat Jahan is a well-known MP of Mamata Banerjee's party Trinamool Congress (TMC). Bengali actress Nusrat has been elected as an MP from Basirhat Lok Sabha seat in 2019. Her name was earlier associated with a gang-rape accused. Five people gang-raped a divorced woman on 5 February 2012 in Park Street area of ​​Kolkata and later escaped after throwing her out of the moving vehicle. This rape case was in the headlines at that time.

The police immediately arrested three accused after investigating the case but the two accused escaped. The absconding accused included Kader Khan and Mohammad Ali. Kader was in a relationship with Nusrat at that time. Both were in a relationship a few months before the gang-rape incident and had planned to get married in the same year.

The actress alleged that Kadar Khan, absconding after the rape, was in contact with her, and Nusrat hid the matter from everyone. She said that she met Kadar after 5th February incident, but she was unaware that he had been charged with rape. Police investigation revealed that Nusrat had booked a room in a hotel in Mumbai in the name of herself and Kader, however, she had told the police that the two were not meeting.

In 2016, Kader Khan and Mohammad Ali were arrested from Ghaziabad, UP. In this case, there was a demand to register a case against Nusrat for hiding the accused but the police did not do so. At present, Nusrat is currently married to businessman Nikhil Jain. She is currently active in both, politics and film.
