However, few people know how All India Radio (AIR) fired Lata Mangeshkar's brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar just because he sang a poem written by Veer Savarkar. He had told in a 53-minute interview that he had once lost his job as an AIR, simply because he dared to compose a musical rendition of Veer Savarkar's iconic poem, in which he sought the sea to take him back to his motherland. Was praised. In his Marathi interview, he had said that, 'I was working in AIR at that time. I was 17 years old and my salary was Rs 500 per month. It may be peanuts today, but in those days Rs 500 was considered a big salary… In short, I was kicked out of AIR because I read Veer Savarkar's famous poem 'Ne Majsi Ne Parat Matrubhumi, Sagar Pran'.
