Eid Milad un Nabi 2023: Eid Milad un Nabi, also known as Mawlid, Milad un Nabi, or Mawlid al-Nabi al-Sharif, is a cherished festival commemorating the birth of the revered Prophet Muhammad. Historical records indicate that Muhammad was born in 570 CE in Saudi Arabia. Within the Muslim community, the celebration of this occasion diverges slightly, with Shia scholars marking it on the 12th day of the third month of the Islamic calendar, Rabi’ al-Awwal. Conversely, Sunni scholars observe Muhammad's birthday on the 17th day of the same month. In the year 2023, Milad-un-Nabi will commence on the evening of September 27th and conclude on the evening of September 28th, though these dates may vary depending on the lunar calendar.

Despite the fact that Eid Milad un Nabi will be celebrated on September 26th and 27th in the UAE, the official public holiday has been designated for September 29th, 2023.

History & Significance of Milad-un-Nabi/Id-e-Milad:
Originally, the 12th day of Rabi al-Awwal was observed as the day of Prophet Muhammad's passing. It wasn't until the 13th century that the broader Muslim community began commemorating Eid-e-Milad as his birthday. Many scholars believe that Muhammad was born and passed away on the same day of the Islamic calendar. Although a portion of the Muslim community still views this day with reservation, countless Muslims around the world celebrate it with unwavering enthusiasm and devotion.

In its early days, Eid-e-Milad was celebrated in intimate gatherings by a select few. These individuals would convene at the Mawlid house to mark the occasion. However, as time progressed, the number of attendees at these gatherings swelled, giving rise to a larger-scale observance of Muhammad's birth anniversary. The festival grew to become one of the principal celebrations embraced by Muslims.

Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad, is observed through communal prayers held in mosques, where a preacher delivers sermons recounting the life and noble actions of Muhammad. Families partake in the festivities by preparing and sharing Seviyan, a sweetened vermicelli dessert, all while reflecting on the virtuous deeds of the Prophet Muhammad.
