Islamabad: An 18-year-old Hindu girl was shot dead in Pakistan's Sindh province. The reports have identified the deceased as Pooja Kumari Odd. The incident is of Monday (21 March 2022). An attempt was made to kidnap Pooja at Rohi in Sukkur district. Failing this, he was shot in the middle of the road. According to Pakistani journalist Nayla Inayat, Wahid Baksh Lashari attempted to kidnap Pooja. He had to lose his life for resisting this.

It is common practice in Pakistan to kidnap and forcibly marry minorities, especially Hindu girls, and get them converted. According to the report of The Friday Times, every year minority women in Pakistan are kidnapped, especially Hindus in Sindh. They are forcibly converted to Islam by religious fanatics. The report said that minorities in Pakistan have been suffering from forced marriages and conversions for a long time. According to the People's Commission for Minorities Rights and the Center for Social Justice, there have been 156 incidents of forced conversions between 2013 and 2019. In 2019, the Sindh government for the second time tried to ban forced conversions and marriages, but religious fundamentalists opposed it.

It is noteworthy that recently the case of kidnapping of two minor Hindu girls for forced conversion from Sindh came to light. Aarti Meghwar (14 years) from Khairpur in Sindh and Rabia Bhil (13) from Ghotki were kidnapped. Before that a girl named Bindiya was raised. Similarly, 15-year-old Hindu girl Payal Kumari was also kidnapped from Sindh's Goth Wali Muhammad Patafi. Then after forced conversion, he was married. Najma Kohli was kidnapped and she was also made to accept Islam. Then he was married off to 35-year-old Amanullah by giving the name Fatima.
