New Delhi: Amid the corona crisis, the Indian Meteorological Department on Friday said that the Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal have become low pressure areas. This may lead to heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in eastern India and most parts of central India. IMD said, the low pressure area is likely to move towards odisha and west-north-east in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, for the next 24 hours, the situation is favourable for the southwest monsoon to move forward in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha, parts of the entire West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar as well as other parts of the Bay of Bengal in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rain is likely to occur in coastal areas of Maharashtra from 11th to 15th June due to gusty winds along the west coast. Coastal Karnataka is likely to receive rainfall between June 12 and 15.

Konkan is also likely to receive heavy rainfall from 12th to 15th June, 2021. The Weather Forecasting Agency further said that with the low pressure area moving west-northwestwards, north-west India (except Rajasthan) is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall from June 12 to 14. Uttarakhand and UP are also likely to receive heavy rainfall on June 12. Continuous cloudy conditions and thundershowers are also predicted in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar during next 24 hours before the onset of monsoon. Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail in different parts of northwest Rajasthan today.
