New Delhi: Today is the death anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, who played an important role in the making of the country's constitution and the first law minister of independent India. Today every Indian looks at the constitution made by him with the utmost respect and feels proud. But do you know that Babasaheb himself wanted to burn that constitution? Probably, he had already realized that the elite section with less than five percent of the country's population would hijack the country's democracy under the guise of the Constitution and the 95 percent section would not get its benefit. After independence, the way political families were born in the country and the entire power started revolving around them. Dr. Ambedkar's apprehension was not at all wrong, it is clear from how those people are only fulfilling their interests under the guise of the constitution, and only their families or those who are related to them are getting benefits.

In fact, Dr. Ambedkar had said on September 2, 1953, during a discussion in the Upper House of Parliament, 'Sir, my friends say that I have made the constitution. But I am quite prepared to say that I would be the first person to burn the Constitution. I don't need it. It is not good for anyone.' Two years after this incident, on March 19, 1955, Dr. Anoop Singh, Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, while reminding Dr. Ambedkar during the debate in the House, said, 'Last time you talked about burning the constitution.' On this, Dr. Ambedkar replied, 'My friend Anupji reminds me that I wanted to burn the constitution. Last time I was in a hurry and couldn't explain the reason. But now that I have got the opportunity, I will tell. We have built a temple in the form of a constitution for God to live in, but before God could come even before that the demon has come and started living in it. In such a situation, what is the way other than demolishing the temple?'

Baba Saheb had said that 'We have made it not for the Demons, but for the Deities. I do not want this temple of the Constitution to be dominated by Demons. We want the gods to have authority over it. This is the reason why I said that I would like to burn the constitution.' On this, another MP VKP Sinha said, 'Why do you talk about demolishing the temple, why don't you drive out the demons?' Referring to the incident of Devasur Sangram from Shatpath, Babasaheb said, 'You cannot do this. We have not yet acquired the power to drive away the demons.'
