Bangalore: The state government has provided Y category security to the judges of the Karnataka High Court, who delivered the verdict on the burqa-hijab case. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai has announced this on 20 March (Sunday). With this, the police have so far arrested two accused in the case of threatening the judges. Kovai Rahmatullah is also included in the arrested accused. According to media reports, a complaint has been lodged against those making threats at Vidhana Soudha police station.
It is noteworthy that a few days ago a video of Madurai in Tamil Nadu went viral on social media. In this video, Kovai Rahmatullah, a member of Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaat, was openly threatening the judges who gave their verdict on the hijab. In the video, he was saying that, 'If anything happens to the judges, he himself will be responsible for it. The judge who gave wrong verdict was killed during morning walk in Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru Police has arrested Kovai Rahmatullah and Jamal Mohammad Usmani, taking action in the case of threatening the judges. As per reports, both of them have been apprehended from different parts of Tamil Nadu. FIR has been registered against these two accused in different areas. Both were arrested on Saturday (March 19) night. Let us tell you that the hijab controversy, which started in January 2022, reached the Karnataka High Court through schools. A three-judge bench of the High Court in its judgment had refused to recognize the hijab as a necessary part of Islam. In protest against this decision, many Muslim organizations had called a bandh on 17 March (Thursday).
