Several major portals suffered from outages on Thursday night. Many users around the world were unable to access these portals. According to the internet outage tracker down after, the outage started around 8.55 pm on Thursday. Within five minutes, the number of reports of people unable to reach Zomato alone was about 3,000. Similar difficulties were going on with many other services.

About an hour after the outage was reported, internet infrastructure provider Akamai also confirmed the outage. (By about 10.20 p.m., Akamai was able to enable a fix to bring back the normal operation). Nearly half of the global down was affected by the disruption in content delivery and service of cloud service company Akamai. Akamai is a company that hosts a large part of the Internet, including Times Group properties.

The same largest portals that went down included the names of SBI, HDFC Bank, Zomato, Disney+ Hotstar, PSN, Steam, Paytm.
