Ranchi: In many areas of Jharkhand, the violence of elephants is increasing at an even faster rate. A 40-year-old labourer has lost his life after a wild elephant attacked him in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district. The incident is said to be from Bhaduagoda village under the Kandra police station. On Saturday night, a wild elephant killed 40-year-old Vibhishan Mahato in the area.
Vibhishan Mahato had gone to his farm to harvest paddy at the time of the accident where he was confronted by a wild elephant. When Vibhishan did not come to his house even after the night was over, his family started looking for him. The family found his body lying in the paddy field. The family then informed the police.
A team of police and forest ministry came and took possession of the body and sent it to the hospital for postmortem. Panic has prevailed in the area since the incident. Meanwhile, the villagers also accused the forest department of negligence and demanded compensation.
