New Delhi: Former Union Minister and former Janata Dal chief Sharad Yadav has passed away. Sharad Yadav's daughter Subhashini Yadav informed about his death through social media. His last rites will be performed at his native village in Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh. The mortal remains of Sharad Yadav have been kept at his Chhatarpur residence in Delhi for people to pay their last respects. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Sharad Yadav.

According to reports, Sharad Yadav was ill for the last few days. On Thursday (January 12), he was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Gurugram in an unconscious state. It is being told that he died due to cardiac arrest. Daughter Subhashini Yadav informed about Sharad Yadav's death through Facebook and Twitter. Subhashini said that her body has been kept at his Chhatarpur residence in Delhi today for people to pay their last respects. Sharad Yadav's last rites will be performed in Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh. Sharad Yadav was born in 1947 in Bandai village under Hoshangabad.

At the same time, PM Narendra Modi has expressed condolences on the death of veteran socialist leader Sharad Yadav. PM Modi wrote in tweeting, 'I am saddened by the demise of Sharad Yadav. In his long public career, he distinguished himself as a parliamentarian and minister. Sharad Yadav was influenced by Dr. Lohia's ideals. I will always cherish our conversation. My condolences to his family members and supporters. Om Shanti.'
