Washington: American scientists are working in a new direction regarding the treatment of the coronavirus epidemic. MACH-19 (Mushroom and Chinese Herb for COVID-19) is a multi-centre study to be carried out in collaboration with the San Diego School of Medicine and UC Los Angeles, La Jolla Institute for Immunology.
Better results in pre-clinical studies: A preclinical study conducted in 2019 found that mushrooms have the ability to prevent corona infections, including influenza (H1N1) influenza A (H5N1) and herpes. Gordon Saxe has said that he feels that medicinal mushrooms have the ability to prevent corona replication and that he wants to test this theory in the Phase-II trial against the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus. Gordon Saxe said mushrooms have many benefits and they grow with us. Just as mushrooms are victims of bacteria, viruses and other fungus, so is humans. Just as mushrooms help fight such insects, so we are sure that eating them will give us the defence mechanism.
In the third ongoing trial regarding MACH-19, the medicinal properties of mushrooms are being assessed.
