Patna: Talking to pressmen in Bihar's capital Patna on Tuesday, Minister Shahnawaz Hussain expressed concern over the current situation in Afghanistan. He said, "The condition of Afghanistan is alarming. The Government of India has sent people from its embassy there with great difficulty. 120 Indians have been evacuated. The work of bringing in those who are left is also going on."
Shahnawaz said, 'The whole world is concerned about Afghanistan. The kind of language the Taliban is speaking is far from the ground reality. The Government of India has kept an eye on the entire situation. But the picture there is very painful. The Taliban should not pose a threat to the world.' On the question of whether only Hindus will be brought from Afghanistan, Shahnawaz Hussain said, "Given the situation in Afghanistan, it is our duty to bring all the Indians trapped there. Whoever is the Indian passport holder will be called. People are Hindustanis first, then there is a caste or religion. PM Modi is going to take everyone along.''
Shahnawaz said, ''120 people who have just come include people of all religions. But we will first give citizenship to Hindus and Sikhs living in Afghanistan who are at risk of religion. If I were the one trapped, wouldn't I have brought it? The central government is monitoring the whole matter. PM Modi worries about everyone."
