NEW DELHI: Elon Musk said on Friday that he will remove all of the fraudulent and corrupt legacy Blue "verification" checkmarks from Twitter in the upcoming months.
The new Twitter Chief Executive Officer also stated that going forward, accounts that spoof must contain "parody" in both their name and bio. "accounts that are impersonating parodies, to be exact. Basically, it's not okay to trick people" he tweeted.
Musk wrote to his more than 115 million followers, "Far too many corrupt legacy Blue'verification' check marks exist, so no choice but to erase legacy Blue in coming months." Musk also remarked that he enjoys "people complaining about Twitter on Twitter."
In a few nations, Twitter has launched the new verified Blue membership service for USD 8 on iOS, and it will soon give verified badges more "granularities."
Musk announced that the company will now offer organisational affiliation and ID verification to verified users with Blue badges after abruptly discontinuing the grey "Official" badge for government accounts.
Musk added that in the near future, Twitter will delete accounts that haven't been used for several months.
He has conofirmed that less than a month would pass before the new USD 8 per month Twitter Blue membership service becomes accessible in India.
