New Delhi: BJP leader Giriraj Singh defeated CPI leader and former president of JNU students union Kanhaiya Kumar on Begusarai seat. After defeat in the election, Kanhaiya Kumar said that he has lost an election but not the war. 

Kumar took to Twitter and said that for life and for everyone’s happiness he will walk, fall and then rise again to fight and to win. Giriraj Singh trounced Kumar by a staggering margin of over four lakh votes.

Giriraj Singh who was a sitting MP from Nawada had to give up his seat for Lok Janshakti Party’s (LJP) Chandan Singh.   Singh, who was reluctant to give up his sitting seat, got 6.88 lakh votes out of a total of 12.17 lakhs votes polled on April 29 while Kumar polled 2.68 lakh votes.

RJDs Tanveer Hassan, who was the runner-up in 2014, came third with just 1.97 lakh votes.

Earlier, Kumar name in light when he allegedly raised anti-India slogans in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Ravi Kishan who registered a thumping victory from Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat on BJP’s ticket slammed Kumar saying that those who talk about breaking the nation will never succeed to win people’s confidence. He told ANI, "When you say 'desh ke tukde-tukde' you will never win the confidence of the people. By being anti-national and speaking against the nation, by abusing the established government you will never be able to win.”
