World Boxing Championship: Lavalina and Jamuna Boro make it to quarterfinals

New Delhi: Last year's bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain (69 kg) and debutante Jamuna Boro (54 kg) have secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Women's World Boxing Championships. Boro defeated fifth-seeded Eudad Fou of Algeria, while third-seed Borgohain defeated Yumaya Bel Ahbib of Morocco 5–0. Boro will now face Yuliya Apanasovich of Belarus. Fourth seed European Championship bronze medalist Yulia defeated Germany's Ursula Gotlob.

Borgohain will take on sixth-seeded Poland's Carolina Kojevska, who defeated Uzbekistan's Shakhanoja Yunusova. The Borough of Assam Rifles started the offensive. He made good punches in the second and third rounds on par. In the last match of the first season Borgohain faced Ahabib. He performed brilliantly while playing distance. The Moroccan boxer struck some strong punches but Borgohen prevailed in retaliatory attacks. Boro's mother lives by selling vegetables, but she showed her talent by winning a gold medal at the India Open this year. He also won the bronze medal at the 2015 Youth World Championship.
