Mumbai: In the country, these days, the ongoing protest against the cutting of trees in Aarey Colony is in the news. Now the legendary batsman Rohit Sharma of the Indian team has expressed his views on the issue. In a tweet, Rohit Sharma has opposed the cutting of trees in the name of development in Aarey Colony, Mumbai. He wrote on his Twitter handle, "Even if there is more to the story, nothing is worth cutting down something so vital. Part of Mumbai being slightly greener & slight difference in the temperature is mainly because of #AareyColony. How can we take that away, not to mention thousands of animals will displace."

For your information, let us know that the Bombay High Court on October 4 allowed the Maharashtra government to cut trees. After this the state government Started felling of trees for the metro project overnight. Hundreds of saws had touched the ground late at night. However, later on Monday, the Supreme Court saw the saws happening in the forest. The harvesting of trees was banned. The Supreme Court had also ordered the state government (Maharashtra) to maintain the status quo until the next hearing of the case on October 21.
