Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s kind-heartedness towards the differently abled came to the forefront on Wednesday when he accidentally saw a disabled woman waiting on the roadside with a petition for a job when his convoy was crossing her.

Help came to the women in the form of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister as she got a job as a ward manager at a hospital in Tuticorin with a monthly salary of Rs 15,000 within an hour of submitting a petition to him during his visit to this southern coastal district on Wednesday.

Mr Palaniswami noticed Mareeswari waiting with a bunch of papers in her hand while he was leaving after inaugurating a linear accelerator for cancer treatment and a central research laboratory, officials said. The chief minister stopped his convoy, called her and enquired when the woman explained she was from Muthiahpuram and her husband Chinnathurai is a labourer.

The Lady said they had a five-year-old daughter and that she wanted a job because her husband’s wage was not enough to support her family. Moved by her plight, Mr. Palaniswami requested the lady to pay a go to the district collectors workplace. Ms. Mareeswari was pleasantly shocked when the chief minister provided her an appointment letter for the put up of a ward supervisor in Thoothukudi Authorities Medical Faculty Hospital, on a wage of Rs 15,000 monthly. The girl’s pleasure knew no bounds because the appointment order was issued inside an hour of petitioning the chief minister and he or she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to him for his gesture, officers stated.
