In Bollywood where in the majority of film women plays the glamorous role as a doll or the roles of women is limited to dancing and playing the love interest of the lead.  Here are 7 movies that celebrate womanhood. The movie conveys the feeling, the joy, the pain of being a woman. The movies show women as a fighter who doesn’t want any men to protect them. The movies present the story of being a woman.

Mardani: In Bollywood when all the action movie is about the power of men this movie shows you the power of a women. Mardaani is a thrilling narrative revolving around Roy’s stumbling upon human trafficking stints within the Indian mafia while trying to solve the case of kidnapped teenage girl Pyaari. Mardaani was well-received critically and commercially as it was hailed for breaking gender stereotypes and depicting a strong female police officer leading the movie. The movie slammed on different gender bias team.

Thappad:  There are already various movie on domestic violence but the thing which make this film as one of the best movies is that it is bases on the idea that even one slap, even one such incident is not justified on it. The film is not just a social commentary on the socio-emotional impact of domestic violence but also a larger panorama into the treatment of women within the legal frame of marriage.

Bandit Queen: The woman who was raped several times by several man takes revenge based on the real-life incidents. It’s the story of a woman who fights all the mayhem done to her by the men, from the police to the goons. Ultimately she overpowers them all and comes to fore as a strong woman. Shekhar Kapoor directed the film based on the biography, India's Bandit Queen: The True Story of Phoolan Devi by Mala Sen.

Kahani: A fight of a woman. On the one hand where all Bollywood movies show women as Glamorous Dolls. This movie presents another side of a woman. Vidya Balan breaks the typecast role of the helpless damsel in distress as the film chronicles a woman’s fearless fight for justice and vengeance while delving into themes of feminism and motherhood in a patriarchal society. The film won several accolades including best screenplay, best editing, and a special jury award in the 60th National Film Awards.  

Chandni Bar:  In India where only females Prostitute are blamed but no one talk about the men who went to Prostitute. This movie brings to light the dark and helpless lives of numerous women in Mumbai who are caught in the web of the underworld, prostitution, dance bars and crime. Tabu, who plays Mumtaz in the film, strives hard to give her children a better future but alas, situations get the best of her. 

Mary Kom: It is not a fictional story but a story of real-life fighter.  Ranking among the highest-grossing Indian films led by an actress in a lead role, Mary Kom captures the spirit of a sportswoman through Priyanka Chopra’s uninhibited portrayal as the biopic centres around a woman’s journey towards her goals and smashing obstacles and stereotypes.

Queen:  One of the very different stories that is based on the idea that a woman doesn't need a man to be happy. It is about how a common girl Rani played by Kangana Ranaut. It’s heartbreaking when Vijay played by Rajkumar Rao, just a day before the wedding breaks the news to Rani that he is no more interested in marrying her. The actress go on a honeymoon all alone. During her travel, she meets new friends, discovers the world and life and comes back as a changed person, ready to take control of her life.
