The upcoming AFC Women's Asian Cup football tournament in India will see the biggest ever team of experienced women's match officials. The tournament is scheduled to be played in three cities of Maharashtra, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune from January 20 to February 6.
32 match officials have also been selected for the tournament. There are also 16 referees and assistant referees of 15 member associations of the Asian Football Federation (AFC). The official is scheduled to take charge in most of the 29 matches, including the play-offs in the tournament. Nine match officials in the team were present at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.
The team of match officials includes 3 Indian Ranjita Devi Tekcham (Referee), Fernandes Uvena (Assistant Referee) and Rebelo Maria Piedede (Technical Coach). Video Assistant Referee (VAR) is also going to be used for the first time in this tournament. VAR is set to be used in quarter-finals as well as potential play-off matches.
