NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu lauded the remarkable achievements of women in the face of adversity during an event on Monday. She emphasized the impressive strides women have made across diverse fields, ranging from technology to the arts, by conquering numerous challenges.

The event took place at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi and was organized by the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA). President Murmu expressed her appreciation for the courageous contributions of "veer naris" (brave women) and commended the AWWA for their endeavors.

During the gathering, a resilient entrepreneur, married to a member of the Army, and a determined teacher from Jharkhand shared their harrowing life stories as "veer naris." These women recounted their journeys of triumph over adversity, driven by their unwavering determination and resilience. President Murmu was moved by these accounts, acknowledging that they exemplify the essence of "Nari Shakti" (women's power).

Reflecting on the phrase, "Behind every successful man, there is a woman," President Murmu suggested a contemporary revision: "Beside every successful man, there is a woman." She emphasized that women play an indispensable role in success.

In her speech, President Murmu celebrated "nari shakti" and underscored the vital role women play in societal and national progress. From scientific achievements like missiles to artistic expressions like music, women have reached impressive heights, surmounting challenges with determination.

AWWA President Archana Pande praised President Murmu for her accomplishments, recognizing her as a symbol of "nari shakti." Prior to the event, President Murmu explored stalls set up by association members, which highlighted self-reliance and entrepreneurship as avenues for women's empowerment.

Among the attendees were Sudesh Dhankhar, wife of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi. The event served as a platform to celebrate and acknowledge the inspiring journeys of women who have defied odds and emerged as beacons of strength.
