World Asthma Day is celebrated all over the world on the first Tuesday of the month of May. The main objective of celebrating World Asthma Day is to make people around the world aware of asthma. World Asthma Day is organized every year by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA). World Asthma Day was first observed in 1998 in 35 countries, including Barcelona, Spain.

It is estimated that the number of asthma patients in India is 15 to 20 crore, out of which about 12 per cent of Indian infants are suffering from asthma. Asthma patients have to take some precautions for life. Asthma patients need extra protection every season. The moisture present in the atmosphere affects asthma patients in many ways.

Asthma begins with viral infections. It is a sign of allergies if anyone is suffering from frequent colds, fevers. Children can be protected from this allergy by getting treatment at the right time and adopting a balanced lifestyle. If not treated in time, they gradually become asthmatics. According to experts, the disease can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle and strengthening your respiratory system through Pranayama and Yoga.
