World Biofuel Day: PM Modi to address farmers, entrepreneurs at Vigyan Bhawan

New Delhi [India], Aug 10 (NT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday attend an event to address a diverse gathering at Vigyan Bhawan on the occasion of World Biofuel Day.

PM Modi will deliver his address to the farmers, scientists, students, entrepreneurs, government officials, and legislators during the event, as per the government statement relesed on Thursday.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is conducting the programme to mark the importance of biofuels and to draw attention on the various efforts made by the PM Modi -led Government in the biofuel sector. Worth mention here The ministry has been observing the World Biofuel Day for the last three years on August 10.

Biofuels have synergies with different Government initiatives, such as enhancing farmers' incomes, and Swachh Bharat, the official statement read. It further stated that as a result of the efforts of the NDA led Centre, ethanol blending in petrol has increased to 141 crore litres in financial year 2017-18, as compared to 38 crore litres in 2013-14.The Government also gave its nod to the National Policy on Biofuels in June.

Biofuels help lessen import dependency on crude oil, the statement further said. It also added that it can also contribute to a cleaner environment, generate additional income for farmers, and generate employment in rural areas of the nation. (NT)
