Indore, Madhya Pradesh: The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued an official notice urging all its employees to opt for alternative modes of transportation instead of their cars in celebration of World Car-Free Day, which is slated for this Friday, September 22.
Judges, legal practitioners, and members of the District Bar Association have all been earnestly requested to join the initiative by abstaining from using their cars.
The notice reads, “This is for general information that ‘ World Car Free Day’ shall be observed on Friday, 22-09-2023 for the purpose of environmental improvement by the State Government and all concerned are requested to co- operate in No Car Day campaign in District Indore also by using two wheelers, cycles, public transport in place of cars.”
Significantly, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav has affirmed the commitment of the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) and the traffic department to leave no stone unturned in ensuring the success of 'No Car Day.' It is noteworthy that both the IMC and the traffic department have jointly called for the observance of 'No Car Day' on September 22, coinciding with World Car-Free Day. The Mayor convened a meeting at the city bus office on Monday to discuss the plans further.
Present at the meeting were additional municipal commissioner Manoj Pathak, superintending engineer Mahesh Sharma, and other relevant stakeholders.
