New Delhi: India's Deepak Punia, who won the silver medal at the World Championship, has secured first place in the men's 86 kg freestyle world rankings on Friday. Junior World Champion Deepak withdrew from the World Championship final in Noor-Sultan, Kazakhstan due to injury, due to which he had to be content with the silver medal.

According to the ranking released by United World Wrestling, Deepak Punia holds the top position with 82 points. He is four points more than world champion Yazdani. Meanwhile, Bajrang Punia, who won the Bronze medal at the World Championship, has lost one place. He has slipped to second place in the 65 Krigra category with 63 points, while Gadjimurad Rashidov of Russia, who won the gold medal in the championship, topped the table with 72 points.

Ravi Dahiya has reached the top five in the 57kg category while Rahul Aware has finished second in the 61kg category. Both won the Bronze medal in their respective categories at the World Championships. Among women, Asian Games gold medal winner Vinesh Phogat (53 kg) has climbed four places to the second position. Vinesh Phogat, who got the quota for the next year's Olympics in Tokyo, has a total of 71 points.
