World Postal Day: 'Dakiya Daak Laya, Daakiya Daak Laya..', 'Chitthi Aayi Hai, Aayi Hai Chitthi Aayi Hai...' and 'Phool Tumhe Bheja Hai Khat Mein...' there are many songs that are not just an exaltation in the heart but a smile on the face. In this rapidly evolving technology and changing times, the time has now been forgotten when people after seeing the bicycle rider postman, waited for their names to be called.

In today's internet world, everyone has been reduced to mobile and computer. While all these gadgets have made our life easier, that period, that emotion, that feeling has been lost somewhere. Even today, mail is the only way to reach a document from one place to another or to send money to someone. But now it has been replaced by the Courier Service, which takes the necessary journey in a short time, even though the postal identity still has a distinct identity. Let us know on the occasion of Postal Day about its history...

The postal facility was introduced to connect people with their loved ones, to share their joys and sorrows. This was the only means of contact with each other in the old times. The reason behind celebrating World Post Day on October 9 is that on the same day in 1874, 22 countries signed an agreement together in Bern, Switzerland to form the Universal Postal Union, since the day began to be celebrated as World Post Day. India also joined these members on July 1, 1876. The Postal Service in India was established by Lord Clive in the year 1766. Warren Hasting started the first post office in Hyderabad, India in 1774. The stamp ticket was then introduced in 1852.

For more than 166 years, India Post has been extending its services to the masses. The Indian Postal Service is considered to be one of the largest postal services. On the second day of World Post Day i.e. 10th October, India Post Day is celebrated. India Post Week is observed between 9th and 14th October, according to the Indian Postal Department, which aims to inform, sensitize, and harmonies the post offices among the customers about the product of the postal department. Employees who work better on a postal day are also rewarded.
