US President Joe Biden has condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine and has threatened Russia with more sanctions.
"Tonight, I say no more to the Russian billionaires and unscrupulous leaders who have bilked billions of dollars from this brutal dictatorship," Biden said during his State of the Union speech, announcing a new task force under the US Justice Department to investigate Russian oligarchs. "We're teaming up with our European allies to track down and seize their private aircraft, yachts, and luxury apartments. We're on our way to take your ill-gotten money,"as per reports.
The US is also restricting its airspace to Russian planes, joining a slew of other countries that did so this week, "further isolating Russia," according to Biden. "He has no idea what's coming," he added, alluding to Putin. "Putin has wreaked havoc on the country. However, while he may gain on the battlefield, he will continue to pay a hefty price in the long run "Biden stated the following.
Biden stated that Putin's aggressiveness had only strengthened the resolve of the world's democracies to combat emerging autocracies. "Vladimir Putin of Russia attempted to disturb the foundations of the free world six days ago, believing he could force it to bend to his intimidating ways. However, he made a serious error in his calculations "Biden stated the following.
"He believed that if he rolled into Ukraine, the entire world would fall apart. Instead, he ran against a wall of strength he had not anticipated. He interacted with Ukrainians "CNN reported on the situation.
