New Delhi: In view of the rising corona havoc across the country, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal inaugurated the Sardar Patel Covid-19 Center with a capacity of 10,000 beds at Radha Swami Satsang Vyas Campus, Chhatarpur in South Delhi on Sunday. The facility here is spread over an area the size of about 20 football fields and each has 200 yards with 50 beds. Keeping this in mind, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has tweeted a tweet. He said, "DRDO's 1000-bed Karona Hospital is ready. Thanks to the Central Government from Delhiites. It has 250 beds of ICU. It is very much needed in Delhi at the moment." The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is the nodal agency running this facility. ITBP Director General Surjit Singh Deswal was present at the inauguration of the center.

According to the information received, those patients with mild symptoms and those who do not have symptoms of corona will be treated. Corona infected patients without symptoms cannot remain in isolation at home due to any reason, they will also be treated here. Radha Swamy will help Satsang Vyas volunteers and the Delhi government in running such a facility. Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Dev visited the center on Saturday. Additional District Magistrate (South) Arun Gupta said, "The first group of patients will come to the center on Sunday."

Lieutenant Governor addressed a meeting on this occasion and praised the efforts made to prepare the facility. Baijal said, "It is because of the joint efforts of ITBP, Delhi administration, Dera followers and other officials that such a huge facility has been created. It will definitely reduce the congestion of patients in coronavirus hospitals in the national capital."

It is also being said that NGO 'Ek Prayas' donated sanitization kits for patients. District Magistrate (South) has appealed to Reliance Jio to support this effort by increasing data connectivity at the center. Official sources said that the telecom giant has given a positive response to this appeal and a team of the company visited the center to take stock of the situation. According to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday, the total corona cases have been 97,200 with 2,505 new cases in Delhi. Of these, 25,940 are active cases and 3,004 people have died.
