In the concluding song of RRR, Sholay the director features several prominent figures from the Indian freedom struggle. However, the scene does not include the father of the nation, such as Mahatma Gandhi. It was reported that Gandhi was deliberately replaced with Bose. In a recent interview, RRR director opens up about the allegations.

He said, “I would need room for eighty in order to put all the figures that I respect in the movie. Still, I respect all of the revolutionaries that I chose, and, if I didn’t put Gandhiji’s portrait there, it doesn’t mean I disrespect him. I have huge respect for Gandhiji, no doubt about that.” He further explained his point said, “My question is: If I were to replace Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s portrait with Gandhiji’s, would all these people ever question me, saying that I disrespected Subhas Chandra Bose by not portraying him there?”

It is a fictional story set in the 1920s pre-independent era and is based on the lives of two real heroes and well-known revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
