Gaya: A woman was burnt alive by villagers in Bihar's Gaya after accusing her of being a witch due to superstition. The incident took place in Panchmah village under Maigra police station area of Gaya. Villagers attacked the house of the woman, Hemanti Devi, after accusing her of being a witch here on Saturday. The woman was first assaulted and then wrapped in a cloth and burnt alive.  

According to the news received, an Ojha from Jharkhand played a big role in this scandal. In fact, a man, Parmeshwar, died in the village a month ago. Ojha from Jharkhand told the deceased woman the cause of his death. He said that he would make the woman accept on the strength of his tantra mantras that she had killed Parmeshwar by witchcraft. With this, the people of the village reached Hemanti Devi's house several times. After several attempts, a mob of villagers finally entered Hemanti Devi's house and dragged her from the room of the house and beat her up. Then wrapped her in a cloth in the room and burnt her alive.   

Before the mob lynching, when the news of this case came to the police and the police reached the spot, the police team was also attacked by the villagers, due to which they also had to run away from the spot. Although the police reached the village once again, but by then the villagers had succeeded in their intention. Later, the police took the body of the woman and sent it for post-mortem. After this incident, there is a sensation in the area. The case is being investigated by the police.
