MADRID: After FC Barcelona's 3-1 loss to Real Madrid on Sunday, which caused them to lose their lead over their rivals at the top of La Liga, coach Xavi Hernandez acknowledged that his team had earned the setback.

Karim Benzema and Fede Valverde's goals in the first half gave Madrid the lead. Despite Ferran Torres' goal for Barca with seven minutes remaining, Rodrygo's late penalty put an end to Barca's chances.

In his post-game press conference, Xavi said, "We didn't take advantage of our good moments and Madrid did," according to Xinhua. We need to make a change since "nothing is going right for us," he said.

The Barca coach said when asked about his team's performance in the waning seconds that he couldn't "be happy with anything after losing 3-1." We had to know what we were doing because we were up against a fantastic team, and we weren't at our best. Coach Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid was much happier and able to enjoy a significant victory.

"We were more persuasive and successful. We scored by avoiding pressure and making a move from the back. We succeeded. Ancelotti added more significance to the victory by saying, "The team was outstanding as a whole, and that was the key.

These go beyond just being three points. We took them from one of the competition's most dangerous competitors, he said.
