Mumbai: In the second day of the first Test against West Indies proved to be a remarkable day for Yashasvi Jaiswal at Roseau, Dominica. Pragyan Ojha, a former spinner for India, expressed his belief that the talented left-handed opener would continue to dominate the bowlers on the upcoming third day.

Jaiswal, making his debut, delivered an outstanding century that propelled India to a commanding position in Windsor Park. He emerged as the leading force on Day 2 of the 1st Test, guiding the team to a total of 312/2 by the end of play. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 143, accompanied by former captain Virat Kohli, who contributed 36 runs.

Before Jaiswal's impressive innings, skipper Rohit Sharma also struck a brilliant century, scoring 103 before being caught by wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva off Alick Athanaze. Together, Sharma and Jaiswal established a formidable 229-run partnership for the opening wicket.

Anticipating the third day's action, JioCinema expert Pragyan Ojha emphasized Jaiswal's performance on Day 2, praising his maiden Test century. Ojha expressed the importance of Jaiswal's start on Day 3, recognizing the challenge of facing the bowlers on a tricky pitch. However, Ojha firmly believed that once Jaiswal settled in, he would seize the opportunity to dominate the bowlers and increase the scoring rate.

India began Day 3 with an overnight score of 80 without losing any wickets. They added 232 runs to the total but lost the wickets of Sharma and Shubman Gill (6 runs). With this context, the stage is now set for Kohli to take charge on the third day.

Commenting on the pitch conditions, Ojha acknowledged its trickiness and the difficulties it presented to the batsmen. He observed that Virat initially took time to settle down. Ojha emphasized that the longer Kohli spends at the crease, the better his chances of scoring runs. He expressed optimism that India had ample time to build a substantial lead, allowing Kohli to aim for a century milestone.

Ojha also advised India to consider the weather conditions when making decisions regarding the timing of their declaration.
