New Delhi: The opposition's joint presidential candidate and former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha has once again attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). At the same time, Yashwant Sinha has termed the NDA's presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu as a 'rubber stamp' candidate. Attacking the Modi government, Yashwant Sinha has said that there is an undeclared emergency in the country and institutions are being weakened.
In fact, on Friday, Yashwant Sinha was on a visit to Gujarat during which he met congress leaders and MLAs and sought their support for himself. Yashwant Sinha said, "This fight has now turned into a very big fight. This fight is in relation to whether she (Draupadi Murmu) will exercise her rights to save the Constitution after becoming president. It is clear that a 'rubber stamp' president will never attempt to do that.''
Yashwant Sinha, who was once a veteran BJP leader, launched a scathing attack on the BJP, saying, "Today, constitutional values and democratic institutions, including the press, are in danger. There is an undeclared emergency in the country at present. LK Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee once fought against the Emergency (between 1975 and 1977) and even went to jail for it. But today, his own party (BJP) has imposed an emergency in the country. That is ironic.''
