Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's Yogi Adityanath government has announced free ration for 3 months to all ration card holders to provide immediate relief to the poor and needy due to the circumstances arising out of corona. In Uttar Pradesh, 3.30 crore eligible card holders will be given 3 months free ration under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anand Yojana on Thursday (May 20, 2021). The Yogi government has decided that eligible persons whose ration cards have not yet been made. They will also be given ration cards by conducting campaigns and they will be provided ration immediately.

Each card holder will be provided with 2 kg of rice with 3 kg of wheat. The Yogi government, which is delivering food to thousands of poor people every day through community kitchens and food packets, has made elaborate arrangements for the country's largest ration distribution drive. The Yogi government has asked its ministers, MLAs and officers to be posted in the districts to monitor the free ration distribution drive. State Government Ministers and MLA will be present in different districts to launch ration distribution drive. Nodal officers have been deployed at government shops to monitor ration distribution. Ration distribution will be done through e-pass machines to make the entire process transparent and corruption free.

1,30,07,969 eligible persons of Antyodaya Anand Yojana along with 13,41,77,983 people of Eligible Household Scheme will also get the benefit of free ration distribution scheme. Apart from up card holders, any eligible card holder on portability basis will be able to get free ration from government ration shops in the state. Ration distribution for the month of May will start from Thursday and continue till May 31. Ration will be distributed to eligible people on portability basis from 29th to 31st May. At the same time, as per the yogi government's plan, all responsibilities including maintenance of children whose parents have died due to corona epidemic will be borne by the State Government. The state government will soon take up the responsibility of taking care of children under the scheme.
