Lucknow: The Yogi government has made a big announcement for the farmers suffering from drought in Uttar Pradesh. Today i.e. on Tuesday (August 30), the Yogi government announced many schemes for farmers in the cabinet meeting. The Yogi Cabinet has given the green signal for the free distribution of 2 lakh quintals of yellow mustard i.e. Doria mustard species seeds.
These seeds will be distributed in the districts on a priority basis. These will be distributed to the farmers registered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi under first-come-first-serve at the block level. Along with this, the green signal has also been given to install 2100 new state tube wells in 62 districts of the state. Tubewells will be installed by the end of 2023/24. One tubewell can irrigate 50 hectares of land. This will provide relief to farmers from drought in the coming time.
Due to less rain, farmers have not been able to sow paddy transplantation and other crops of pulses and oilseeds or have been forced to till the damaged crop due to lack of water from paddy transplantation. Farmers of Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Ballia, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Maharajganj etc. will be provided free of cost yellow mustard seeds.
