Shajapur: A girl from Bhopal has become a victim of love jihad in Shajapur, Madhya Pradesh. The girl has accused a man named Sheikh Zahid of citing herself as a Pandit raped her. According to the victim, when she was pregnant, Zahid started pressurising her to become a Muslim. On Wednesday (October 26, 2022), the victim lodged a complaint with the police. The police registered an FIR and arrested the culprit Zahid while looking for his wanted brother Sajid. Hindu organizations have demanded strict action in this matter.

According to media reports, the incident took place in the Shujalpur police station area of the Shajapur district. In her complaint to the police station, the victim said that her first marriage was with the permission of the family, which did not last long due to domestic discord. The victim took up a job in Airtel company to earn her living. A relative of the victim lived in Bhopal's Karound area. The girl used to come and go there often. It is alleged that it was in Karound that the girl met Zahid, who first met the girl under the name Gama. In her complaint, the victim further said that Zahid, who became Gama, first introduced himself as a pandit about 14 years ago. Gama's abba's name is Sheikh Saeed, he lives in Dabripura, Shajapur. Claiming to be a Brahmin, Gama took the victim into belief and promised to marry her. Due to this, he had physical relations with the girl several times.

The victim claimed that she had come to know about Gama being a Muslim a few years ago. According to the girl, when she became pregnant after 7 years of relationship, she pressured Gama to marry. After that, they got married in court. The woman said that due to this, the victim came to know that he was a Muslim after looking at Gama's papers. The woman said that thinking about her child-to-be, she kept quiet even after knowing everything. Because of this, she gave birth to a son. In her complaint to the police, the girl said that after her pole was exposed, Zahid started harassing her every day. It is alleged that Zahid had also threatened to kill the girl. The girl further said that her son is about 8 years old, but Zahid has not yet made any papers for him. According to the victim, when she spoke for it, Zahid used to pressure her to leave Hinduism and become a Muslim.

The girl alleged that Zahid's family members, especially brother Sajid, used to accompany him in the torture. The woman says she is a Brahmin and a vegetarian. Even after this, they used to pressure her to give up vegetarianism and eat meat and pray namaz. The girl says that Zahid used to beat her mercilessly when she refused to do so. The victim also said that fed up with the day's torture, one day she left the house with the goods, but Zahid forcibly brought her back. The girl says that when she used to go to work, the culprit would bring other girls home and have physical relations with them. Hindu organisations became active as soon as the victim's case was reported. All of them went to Shujalpur City Police Station with the girl and demanded strict action against the culprit Zahid alias Gama. Police have registered an FIR against Zahid under sections of the Rape and Conversion Act. Now the victim is expressing her desire to stay in her maternal home with her family.
