New Delhi: A notice has been sent to the Congress party to vacate the government accommodation in Delhi's Chanakyapuri. The notice has been sent by the Ministry of Urban Affairs and Housing on March 25. The notice states that you are given the notice to vacate this bungalow. In fact, even after the cancellation of the allotment on June 26, 2013,  the party has still occupied the bungalow. At present, the bungalow is occupied by the secretary of congress interim president Sonia Gandhi.

According to a media report, a ministry official said the party has been allotted four government bungalows, including 24 Akbar Road, one as the office of the national party. As per the land and development office's policy, Congress was allotted land to build its office on Rouse Avenue in 2010. Three years after that, the Congress party was instructed to vacate any government bungalow given as an office.

At the same time, a veteran Congress leader familiar with the entire development said that the party had received such notices earlier also and the party is in the process of vacating the house of Chanakyapuri. At a time when all the government bungalows in Chanakyapuri are getting instructions from the political parties to vacate, the BJP may also have to vacate the bungalow allotted on 11 Ashoka Road. An official said that a loss fee of around Rs 3 crore can be levied on Congress for overstaying in Chanakyapuri.
