The video platform YouTube has made a major change in its music chart system and views on music videos will no longer count as before. The platform took the decision after it emerged how artists and music labels were trying to increase the views on their videos and that a large number of users were watching their videos while it was not.

On Friday, The Verge wrote a YouTube blog post that YouTube will no longer count 'advertising views' in the companies' music charts calculations. The ranking of the most viewed music videos will be based on organic play. YouTube wrote in a post, "In order to bring more transparency in the industry and given the policy of official charting companies such as Billboard and Nielsen, we now have paid advertising views. YouTube music charts will not be included in the calculation. Artists will now be ranked based on view counts from organic plays.

In a blog post, YouTube said, "YouTube's 24-hour record debut will be videos that have the highest views from organic sources in the first 24 hours of YouTube public release. Indian rapper Badshah recently broke YouTube's one-day record in July and his song 'Crazy' received 75 million views a day. The King's song left behind 74.6 million views of the BTS. However, the rapper's total views are believed to have been pushed differently.
