YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the politician who ruled over undivided Andhra Pradesh as its Chief Minister and left his the remarkable works in the state as his memory is being portrayed by the Malayalam superstar Mammootty. The first look of the actor as former CM revealed by its filmmakers in the form of the teaser of the biopic named 'Yatra'.

The teaser which seems quite appealing and obviously the fan of CM and the superstar must be overwhelmed by witnessing some glimpses of the Yatra. The teaser is assisted with English subtitles to spread the story to a huge audience rather being limited to Telugu viewers.

The biopic is not a whole lifeline of YSR’s life instead makers choose to depict only the padyatra part that he initiated firstly in 2003 and covered 1475 km distance across the state on foot only. The yatra confirmed his victory in 2004 elections which motivated him to again go for the same practice before 2009’s election which also leads him to the seat of CM but his demise left all his plans unturned into the reality on 3rd September 2009 in a plane crash due to the worse weather.

The Mahi Raghav directorial is one of the most awaited projects of south for which Mahi expressed that “Biopics, perhaps with the exception of Sanju in recent times, should not be star-centric. We needed a performer since it is the story of one man. Mammootty is a star but at the same time, since he has done no Telugu film in the last 20 years, he is also an outsider of sorts to the Telugu audience,'”

While appreciating the superstar’s efforts in the movie Mahi expressed: “He is not mimicking YSR, he is interpreting YSR. I will not even say I am directing Mammootty, I am merely collaborating with him. That is because of the massive effort he is putting into the role. Much before we began shooting, he hired a dialogue coach who is on location with him. Mammootty writes the Telugu dialogues in Malayalam himself, learns it and is also dubbing his lines himself. I would say his Telugu is better than mine,”

The 2019’s Sankranti festival in January is the most preferred date for the release of the movie but makers with full cautious mind want a date which will not let them collide with other movies.
