Guntur: In a contentious move, an office belonging to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), led by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, was demolished in Vijayawada's Tadepalle district on Saturday morning. The demolition sparked immediate accusations of "vendetta politics" from YSRCP against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
YSRCP alleged that despite approaching the High Court and obtaining an order halting all demolition activities by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), the demolition proceeded unlawfully.
Following the incident, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned the action, stating, "In Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu has taken vendetta politics to new heights. Like a dictator, he bulldozed the nearly completed YSRC Party central office at Tadepalli."
"The orders of the High Court were blatantly disregarded. Law and justice have completely vanished in the state," Reddy lamented in a social media post.
He further criticized Chandrababu Naidu for the recent violent incidents post-elections, asserting that the demolition sends a clear message about the governance style expected for the next five years. Reddy emphasized YSRCP's unwavering commitment to fight alongside the people against such acts of oppression.
"We stand firm with the people and for the people. I appeal to all democratic forces in the country to condemn Chandrababu's misdeeds," Reddy urged in a tweet.
In a separate incident on June 15, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) demolished certain structures adjacent to Jagan Mohan Reddy's residence in Hyderabad's Lotus Pond area. The demolition, conducted ten days after Reddy resigned as Chief Minister of Telangana, was reportedly carried out to facilitate pavement tiling work near his residence. According to GHMC officials, the structures were utilized by security personnel.
The back-to-back demolitions have intensified political tensions between YSRCP and TDP, highlighting ongoing disputes over governance and administrative decisions in the region.
