Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, directed by Laxman Utekar starring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan, is doing well in Indian theaters. The picture pleasantly surprised in its debut weekend, grossing over Rs 21.50 crores, and it is now enjoying a healthy hold during the weekdays as well. After earning Rs 3.75 crores on Monday, the film earned another Rs 3.55 crores on Tuesday, bringing its five-day total to Rs 28.80 crores. Week 1 appears to be moving around Rs 34 crores, giving the film a shot at not only Rs 50 crores but possibly more.
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke will become the sixth most grossing Hindi picture of the year, surpassing Shehzada, in its first week because the film dipped by only 5% on Tuesday vs Monday, a drop lower than most films see. And this is despite heavy competition from the new Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. The film not only survived the competition, but also emerged as the most popular movie pick of the week in India. It's tough to say for certain what worked for Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.
Bollywood really needs more of these lower-mid-range films to succeed theatrically because they are the lifeblood of cinema theaters all year. The tentpole films will arrive and earn their fair number of viewers, but it is these pictures that ensure that the cinema-going habit is not curtailed, but rather nurtured. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke has no strong competitors in the second week. There's the upcoming Transformers film, although that franchise hasn't been very popular in India to warrant concern. Anil Sharma's Gadar: Ek Prem Katha has been remastered and will be released this weekend as well, but it doesn't appear to be a danger. Adipurush will be Zara Hatke Zara Bachke's first famous Indian opponent on June 16th, 2023. By then, the picture will have used up more than 90% of its total potential.
