Actress Zeenat Aman is about to return to the theater world after 15 years. She will be seen in the drama 'Dearest Bapu, Love Kasturba'. In this drama, she will be seen in the role of Kasturba Gandhi, wife of Mahatma Gandhi. The drama will be premiered on 21 February at 'The Great Indian Theater Festival'. Zeenat says that she was shocked when she was offered this role. The only question that came to her mind was why. Talking about the play, Zeenat said, "We don't know much about Mahatma Gandhi's wife. This project gives you a fascinating insight because the story is composed from the perspective of Kasturba Gandhi. I had a lot of time so I accepted this offer. My inner conflict about getting fully involved with this drama turned into a deep respect for Kasturba Gandhi after three months of rehearsal."

"When I saw myself in the costumes, I was excited. I deliberately kept my two children Jahan and Ajan away from the rehearsal. I am very excited to see their reaction at Opening Night". Writer-director Saif Haider Hassan agrees that Zeenat, known for her audience-restraining characters in her time, was the result of an out-of-the-box choice for the play. According to him, "When I wrote the play, I picked up the phone and called her. I knew and believed what I was doing".

"There was a lot going on in my life, due to which I had to move away from professional life. I think that in Hindi cinema, the characters are less according to age. This was also a major reason for moving away from the cinema. Right now I am completely focused on drama. I have no plans for the future. I believe in living in the present, what will happen tomorrow, will see it tomorrow.", Says Zeenat.
