KIEV, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to discuss assistance for Ukraine.

The parties discussed improving Ukraine's defence capabilities, helping Ukraine's integration into the European Union (EU), and post-conflict recovery at a meeting in Kiev on Thursday, according to the Ukrainian presidential press office.

Following the meetings, Zelensky stated that Ukraine is relying on the military and financial assistance of Spain and Denmark in its battle with Russia.  "Today, our visitors learned about Ukraine's needs. We are expecting swift assistance from them "he stated

For his part, Sanchez said Spain had contributed USD 130 million to the European Peace Fund and had provided USD 33.6 million in humanitarian help to Ukraine. In addition, Spain has provided 200 tonnes of ammunition and other supplies to Ukraine, according to Sanchez. Spain will completely support Ukraine on its path to EU membership, he stressed. Meanwhile, since the war with Russia began, Denmark has provided major political, financial, and sanctions help to Ukraine, according to Frederiksen.

"The EU and its worldwide partners have imposed unprecedented sanctions on Russia, and we will do even more together," she said.  Frederiksen also stated that Denmark is prepared to assist in the post-conflict recovery of Mykolaiv, Ukraine's southern metropolis.
