In Arunachal Pradesh, over 60 species of butterflies have documented during the seventh edition of the Ziro Butterfly Meet arranged in the Lower Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh, officials of the forest department said. Tale Wildlife Sanctuary (TWS) is the location of this event and is organized by NGO NgunuZiro in association with the Tale Wildlife Division and the Hapoli Forest Division on the mark of the ongoing National Wildlife Week.

The “extremely rare Tytler's Treebrown, the Bhutan Treebrown, and the Scarce Evening Brown", are found in this event which is legally protected under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act, they said. The Tytler's' Treebrown was last photographed in 2010, the officials said. The remarkable event of the meet was planting the nectaring plants in Pange Camp and tagging of several host plants in the area.

During the inaugural session on October 3, Division Forest Officer Abhinav Kumar had emphasized the importance of community participation in conservation activities. The previous edition of the butterfly meet has seen participation from India and abroad happened only with only 20 members this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, they added. Last year, the butterfly meet has recorded 105 species of butterflies.
