Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal recently unveiled the company's new "large order fleet" designed to cater to big gatherings and events. The fleet, introduced on Tuesday, features an all-electric vehicle lineup aimed at enhancing Zomato's capability to handle large orders efficiently. According to Goyal, the "large order fleet" is tailored to accommodate gatherings of up to 50 people, offering a seamless delivery experience for customers. In the past, Zomato managed large orders through multiple delivery agents, which often resulted in suboptimal customer satisfaction.

The introduction of the all-electric fleet marks a significant step towards addressing these challenges. Goyal expressed optimism that these new vehicles would alleviate most of the issues encountered by customers when placing large orders on Zomato. However, Goyal acknowledged that the new feature is still a work in progress. Zomato is actively working on incorporating additional features, such as cooling compartments and hot boxes with temperature control, to further enhance the delivery experience.

Notably, this announcement follows a recent controversy surrounding Zomato's introduction of a "pure veg fleet" for delivering orders from vegetarian-only restaurants. After facing backlash on social media, Zomato swiftly reversed its plans for on-ground segregation of the fleet, opting to have all riders wear the color red instead of introducing separate green uniforms or boxes for vegetarian orders. Goyal addressed the issue, explaining the decision to discontinue the segregation and emphasizing Zomato's commitment to ensuring inclusivity across its operations.
