New Delhi: In this era of the ongoing recession, there are reports of layoffs in some company. The latest news is about layoffs at online food delivery company Zomato. The company has laid off 540 of its employees. The layoffs have taken place at the company's office in Gurgaon, mainly consisting of customer support and delivery partner employees. On behalf of the company, it has been said that we have fired 541 employees which are 10% of the total employees of Zomato.

The total number of employees in the company after the layoffs is 5,000. However, the company has said that the employees who have been fired are being paid two to four months. These jobs have ended after improvements in the company's technology. The company had earlier fired 60 employees saying that it was doing so to improve the quality of its service.

Earlier in 2015, the company fired 300 employees in the name of spending cuts. It is known that Zomato Company claims to deliver 40 million orders every month in India.
