On 1 May 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY) scheme in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. Under this scheme, on Thursday Petroleum ministry has issued 1.5 crore LPG connections for the Below Poverty Line (BPL).
Now, it is being implemented across the nation as it has achieved the fixed target within the eight months.
The main aim of it is to remove the cooking fuels from the rural areas and replacing it with clean fuels and LPGs.
