Counsel says a huge amount of money has been invested by traders after licenses were re-energized and the court order will cause massive loss to them.
A group of traders on Wednesday went the Supreme Court, in search of an adjustment of the October 9 order that banned the sale of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) till November 1.
The traders told the court that their licenses were revitalized in pursuance of the court’s September 12 order and they get hold of firecrackers for sale during Diwali.
A Bench, consist of Justices Ranjan Gogoi, A.M. Sapre and Navin Sinha, assured counsel for the traders that it would discuss with the judge concerned, who passed the order, for placing their interim application for imperative hearing.
Lawyer Deepak Chauhan, on behalf of trader Rajesh Kalia and several others, said that a huge amount of money spent by them after their licenses were revived and the recent order of the supreme court would cause massive loss to them.
The court, while prohibition the sale of firecrackers till November 1, had said that its September 12 order momentarily lifting the stay and permitting the sale of firecrackers, would be made effective only from November 1. The court had said that the November 11, 2016 order postpone the licenses “should be given one chance to test itself” to see if there would be a positive effect of this, mainly during Diwali.
