Changes issued by Marylebone Cricket Club will come into effect

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) had issued new changes to the Laws of Cricket and these changes from this Sunday will come into full effect around the world in all levels of the game. After 2000 for the first time, the new Code of Laws are introduced in the game. The  MCC Code of Laws 2017 is the sixth one from them since 1788 and others were issued in  1835, 1947, 1980 and 2000.

In the two matches that are scheduled to take place from Thursday this week i.e match between Pakistan Vs Srilanka in  Abu Dhabi and South Africa Vs  Bangladesh in Potchefstroom most of the laws will be followed. There are significant changes to the 42 Laws that are made.

1. Now written in language applying to all persons.

2. The Handled the ball Law has been removed.

3.  The Lost ball Law has been removed.

4. Limits placed on the thickness of the edges and the overall depth of the bat.

5. The Law regarding running out the non-striker has been altered.

President of MCC Matthew Fleming said, "Promoting the Spirit of Cricket and conveying the 'Play Hard, Play Fair' message at all levels of the game is a global focus for MCC and has been for many years.
